Austria: Agnes Live @ The Dome 52 (Part 2)

UK: Interview with "Digitalspy"

Agnes Carlsson scored one of the summer's biggest hits with 'Release Me', a classy club banger that spent seven weeks in the top ten and still fills the dancefloor now the weather's turned cold. As she prepares to release her album in the UK – finally! – and gears up to tour with N-Dubz and Cascada, we hooked up with the Swedish pop sensation for a debrief. (Oh, and the Jedward debate just happened to come up too for some reason...)

Did you ever expect 'Release Me' to become such a big hit over here?
"Not at all! It's the first thing I've ever released outside of Sweden. When we wrote it I thought it sounded good, but you never know if anyone else is going to like it."

How important is success in the UK to you?
"I really appreciate people here enjoying my music. When I was told how well 'Release Me' had done, it didn't really sink in until I saw the reaction of the people I work with. Also, the Swedish media started calling my management a lot more as a result."

Are there plans to release it over in America too?
"I'm signed to a record company over there and also in Japan, but we don't know exactly when it will be released yet. America is such a huge country and it's a difficult project to take on. We were over there a couple of weeks ago to do my first promotion. On the second day, they told me it was No.1 on the Billboard Dance Chart, which was incredible."

What's the story behind your new single, 'I Need You Now'?
"It's about when there's a lot happening in your life and you need a person who you really trust and you can talk to. The songwriter Sharon Vaughn, who I co-wrote 'Release Me' with, knows me so well and it's kind of about my life."

How did you come up with your album title: "Dance Love Pop"?
"When we were thinking of a title, it was hard picking just one word, so we decided to use three! I thought "dance", "love" and "pop" were the best ones. It includes songs from my last album and some new ones that aren't on the Swedish version."

Your first two albums were really quite different from Dance Love Pop. Why did you decide to change musical direction?

"It was mainly just ballads on the first two albums, but I got to the point where I just wanted to do something totally different. I wanted to make music that people can have a good time to. I've always loved disco music and good pop melodies."

Have you watched The X Factor while you've been over here?

"A bit - I know that everyone's been talking about the twins! I think they're really cute when they do their own thing. I don't think that every artist needs to have a really big, beautiful voice. There are lots of different ways to be successful. They were charming and when you saw them on stage it made you smile. They were different and it's important to be yourself."

Do you think British people are obsessed with reality TV?

"It's so funny being over here when you don't know much about the people and singers. Then you realise that it's all about The X Factor, Jordan and this girl... one of the judges... Cheryl Cole! You all talk a lot about her."

Looking back, are you glad you came from Swedish Idol

"Well, I had only performed solo on stage once before the show so I really, really learned a lot. I did it because I love music and I love singing. I didn't think about the fame side of it."

A lot of people compared you to Leona Lewis when you first came over here. How did you feel about that?

"Yeah, I heard that! I think she's very beautiful and her voice is amazing, so I'm OK with that! Of course I want to be my own person and, for me, we're very different. I don't think we look that similar and we do a totally different type of music."

Should Leona should take some lessons from you and record more dance songs?

"Haha! She does a lot of ballads, but she's very, very good at them. I think you should do the music you're happy doing. I heard her new album and I thought it was good."

Finally, have you chosen your third UK single yet?

"I don't really know yet. When I first recorded 'I Need You Now' it was a ballad, but then my label over here asked if I wanted to make it uptempo. I was like, 'OK, let's give it a try'. I really liked the result but never thought it would be a single. I know lots of people like 'On And On' and it's been a single in Europe, so watch this space."

'I Need You Now' by Agnes is out now. Dance Love Pop follows on December 7

Even though Agnes has massive success in France with 2 smash singles & the album going quite well, she has some big competition with one certain GaGa.. But fingers crossed for Agnes!

Austria: Agnes @ The Dome!

Wow! See more pictures @ Myspace!

UK: Down but not defeated!

Yesterday it were official that "I Need You Now" debuted at #40 in the UK singles chart, with sales of.... Even though it could have been worse, this was not what we expected and hoped for. Most people thought it would go top 20 at least. And i´m afraid that the chance of it climbing isn´t very big.  It´s dropping rather quickly on Itunes and the airplay support will most likely reduce. Even though this single choice was shocking the song has grown a lot, and is actually really brilliant. But there´s 2 problems with this release,  the song is without a doubt a grower that you have to hear many times before you like it and also that it were released way too late. Why they released it at this point is even more shocking than the single choice itself. I guess their reason is that Agnes hadn´t got the time to promote it earlier, but still, i think it would have done much better if it were released earlier even without promotion.

Even though Agnes is going to tour with the Clubland Tour i don´t think it´ll have much impact for "I Need You Now", i´m guessing it´ll drop quickly in the singles chart too. But does this mean the end for Agnes in the UK? No i don´t think so, even though it´ll be 100 times harder to have a hit after this, it´s not impossible. I can exclusively tell you that the 3rd single is being planned right now and will be released next year. According to my source the 3rd single will be announced soon. And what can it be? "On And On" has got enormous support, but the UK label stated that it were "too euro" to work in the UK, why should they have changed their mind about that? But "On And On" is doing well in Europe right now, climbing the charts in Belgium, Italy, Switzerland & France. And has already been top 20 in Denmark, Poland & Holland. Another possibility is that they will go for a brand new song, as "Secret Love"...
So my conclusion is that even though "I Need You Now" didn´t become a real smash, there´s still hope for Agnes in the UK! And hey let´s face it, top 40 is not bad, not bad at all for a artist who has only released 1 single there before.

Sweden: I Need You Now - Released!

Finally the 4th single from "Dance Love Pop" has been released in Sweden! "I Need You Now" is starting from today available as a download on Itunes. It has already got quite some airplay on Sweden's biggest radio stations, hopefully it´ll be another smash-hit for Agnes in her home country!

Agnes feat. will.i.am?

"SWEDISH pop beauty Agnes is hoping to follow in Cheryl Cole’s dainty footsteps by collaborating with Will.I.Am.
The Black Eyed Peas frontman, 34, produced 26-year-old Cheryl’s hit album 3 Words.
Agnes’s debut smash-hit Release Me is a firm favourite on Will.I.am’s setlist when spinning the decks.
And Aggers, 21, is keen to play vocal tennis in a studio booth with him.
She told me: “Will.I.am is probably the biggest celebrity fan I have.
“Whenever he plays DJ sets he always raves about my first single when he plays it.
“I’d love to be able to do something with him in the future. That would be a dream.”
Let us hope Will loves follow-up I Need You Now, out now, just as much."

THE GOLDEN CATSUIT´S RETURN

Well sing hallelujah and praise the lord! The golden catsuit Agnes wore at Melodifestivalen in March this year has finally made it´s return! Agnes decided to bring it out for her gig at G-A-Y on Saturday night where she performed 4 songs, "On And On", "Release Me", "I Need You Now" and of course the gold song itself "Love Love Love". The golden suit Agnes designed herself, made a lot of impact when she wore it at Melodifestivalen and every fashion people loved it. It has been talked about worldwide and may be the most famous catsuit ever! And isn´t damn fierce? The picture is from Scandipop.
Even UK newspaper "The Sun" has written an article about Agnes spectacular outfit!

US: Interview with "Mass Movement Radio"

UK: THE END?!

Well it´s not going that good in the UK for Agnes at the moment. "I Need You Now" is only #38 in the midweeks with 3.463 sold copies, but i´m afraid thats not all bad news.. "Dance Love Pop" - The UK Edition, wich were to be released 7th December has now been delayed to February next year. "I Need You Now" were also removed totally from Radio 1´s playlist, today. It´s hard to take all this in, the major UK succes for Agnes has become a total flop. Agnes UK Recordlabel, 3BeatBlue/AATW, did a gamble with this single choice and gambled away Agnes UK-career.
Why they didn´t choose "On And On" and released it earlier is a mystery!
After the Clubland tour this winter i think it´s better if Agnes focus on the rest of Europe, US, Asia & Australia. Why bother when it´s so hard in the UK? As it is now, this is probably THE END for Agnes in the UK.

Monday, November 16, 2009

She really NEEDS you now!

Agnes 2nd UK single; "I Need You Now" as now been released (as a download yesterday and as a single today). But it´s not making so much success.. Whilst "Release Me" stormed up the UK Itunes, "I Need You Now" is very slowly making it´s way up, only peaking at #56 right now.
Top10 is looking quite impossible right now, maybe top20 also. The problem is that it hasn´t got the airplay it needs, because this is a grower and needs to be heard alot. The questions is now if radio & tv will continue playing it, or because of it´s lack of sales, become removed from the playlists totally? But if there´s life there´s hope! Even though Agnes just has come home from a week in the UK (on friday) she´s going there again! Tomorrow she´ll be performing at the Alan Titchmarch show on ITV, 3pm. Hopefully this will give the song an extra push, wich it seems to need. Please everyone who lives in the UK buy the song ASAP, and support TEAM AGNES!

UK: Interview with "EntertainmentFocus"

I Need You (To Buy) Now

After a long wait, Agnes´ 2nd single in the UK is finally released! "I Need You Now" is aviable as a download, from today. Buy it on Amazon or Itunes. The physical 2 track CD-single is out tomorrow (16/11). Make sure you buy a copy and support TEAM AGNES!
The airplay has been quite good, and after a week of promotion it will hopefully increase.
It´s climbing the downloadcharts right now, but how high it will go is yet to be seen. As familiar, "Release Me" went to Nr1 at Itunes & #3 in the official singlechart. Hopefully "I Need You Now" will have the same succes, but it will be hard. Fingers crossed now everyone!

US: The beginning..

Dance Love Pop - UK Edition

  1. Release Me
  2. I Need You Now
  3. On And On
  4. Secret Love
  5. Sometimes I Forget
  6. You Rain
  7. Big Blue Wall
  8. Love Love Love
  9. How Do You Know
  10. Love Me Senseless
  11. If I Could Build My Whole World Around You (Duet With Erik Hassle) (Bonus Track)
  12. Release Me (Acoustic Version) (Bonus Track)
  13. I Need You Now (Original) (Bonus Track)
  14. On and On (Acoustic Version) (Bonus Track)
  15. Big Blue Wall (Original) (Bonus Track)
So here it is, the cover & the tracklist for the UK edition of "Dance Love Pop". That´s right, it will indeed be called "Dance Love Pop" and NOT "Release Me" as earlier rumoures stated. "Look At Me Now", "Open Up Your Eyes" & "Don´t Pull Your Love Out" is not included. I´m quite shocked they removed "Don´t Pull Your Love Out", since i feel it´s one of the stronger songs on "Dance Love Pop". Maybe even more shocking, that they have included "Love Love Love", hallelujah! One brand new song too; "Secret Love" - that´s gotta be good! Really intresting they included the duet with Erik Hassle too. The album is released in the UK 7th December!

Agnes gets award for her own music! (In Swedish)

Sweden: Finally a new single!

The last single from Agnes here in Sweden was "Love Love Love", wich were released in March. But finally Sweden will get to hear a new single from Agnes on radio & tv. It´s of course "I Need You Now". Any releasedate is not official yet, but it´ll probably be out already on monday. This is because the song is one of the challengers to mondays "Rix Top 6", wich is a chartshow on Swedens biggest radiostation, RIX FM. Agnes have had huge success with radio airplay this past year. "On And On" & "Release Me" is both on top10 of the most played songs in swedish radio this year. Even SR (Sveriges Radio) started to play "How Do You Know" when no new single where released earlier. The media has been reporting very much regarding Agnes worldwide success these last weeks, wich has given "Release Me" an extra boost, up to #26 in the singleschart this week!
So things are looking really good for "I Need You Now" here in Sweden!

Please vote HERE for "I Need You Now" on Rix Top 6.
This is how you do:
In the first box write your first name, then your last name, age, email, phone number, securitycode and then press on "Rosta". 1 vote/computer, thanks!

MMA 2009 - Winner!

Agnes´"Release Me" was nominated for the HDT (House/Dance/Trance) award in MP3 Music Awards 2009, and guess what? She won! The winners were announced today, and Agnes beat both Calvin Harris - "I'm Not Alone" & David Guetta Ft Kelly Rowland - "When Love Takes Over".
The award is from the UK market. Since Agnes didn´t won Best European Act in the EMA´s (or got to the top5), this feels great! Agnes is so worth this, and of course "Release Me" too.
A big congratulations to Agnes, Anders, Sharon and everyone else involved!

UK: The Jingle Bell Ball

Agnes has returned from her promotrip in USA, and is now set for promotion in the UK. In the end of this month she will start touring with Clubland Live 3. On 6th December she will feature The Jingle Bell Ball, in Londons O2 arena. Acts like Shakira, Ne-Yo, Flo Rida & Agnes favourite La Roux will aslo perform at the event. It´s Capital FM 95.8 who´s holding this event.

"Already establishing herself as a massive artist in her home country of Sweden, Agnes is ready to crack the UK and there will be no bigger stage to show off her skills this December than at the Jingle Bell Ball on Sunday 6th December.
Agnes Carlsson won the Swedish version of 'Pop Idol' in 2005 and since then she hasn't looked back. She's already had five Top 10 singles and two number 1 albums in her home country.

Her big breakthrough across the rest of Europe came with this year's release of her huge single 'Release Me'. The song performed incredibly well all across Europe, especially over here where it reached a peak of number three in the singles chart.
This talented and incredibly beautiful artist will undoubtedly give one The O2 Arena amazing performance at the Jingle Bell Ball at The O2 Arena and we can't wait to see it."

The Music In Her

Agnes is not just a hell of a singer, she´s an amazing writer too! On her 2nd album, "Stronger" she co-wrote 3 of the songs. "Everybody Knows", "My Boy" and of course one of her big hits "Champion".
Also in 2007 she had co-written a song that was supposed to participate in that years Melodifestival, "More Than A Girl". Because the song was disqualified we haven´t got to hear the song. According to sources the song was kind of Amy Diamond-ish, who is another swedish artist.
Later a song called "The Music In Me" were released on Myspace, this song Agnes co-wrote for "Stronger". Apperantly Agnes wanted the track on the album, but so didn´t the recordlabel (Sony BMG at that time). Listen to "The Music In Me" below:

As most of you already know, Agnes wrote her biggest hit so far, "Release Me" with Anders & Sharon. "Look At Me Now", "Open Up You´re Eyes" & "Sometimes I Forget" was also co-written by Agnes on "Dance Love Pop". A song called "Say Love" were released on german artists Sandra´s new album; "Back To Life" earlier this year. This song was also co-written by Agnes. Just recently a short demo with Agnes version was uploaded on the other writers website (and later uploaded on Youtube).
Speculations are that this song were supposed to be on a album Agnes worked on after "Stronger", when she still was at Sony BMG. In late 2007 sources sad that Agnes were working on a new album, and that it "sounded amazing". Later Agnes changed recordlabel to Roxy Recordings, and probably Agnes didn´t get to take the songs she worked on, with her.
This album she worked on, was rumoured to be called "Small Chunks Of My Heart".
And recently we could read at Agnes UK fan-myspace that Agnes had co-wrote a song called "Start From Here" with Curtis Richardsson (The Music In Me & Champion).
