My thoughts about the next UK single..
I thought i would share my thoughts about the whole 2nd single in the UK thing. Me myself, like everyone else assumed that "On And On" would be the next single, already when "Release Me" was released (Even Agnes sad so, in "the beginning").
It felt like the obvious choiche.
But now someone at AATW (All Around The world) says that the 2nd single has not been choosen yet and that it won´t be "On And On". And that´s because they feel that it´s to "euro" and wouldn´t work in the UK. There are some rumours that there are som brand new songs in the process of choosing the next single. And if thats the case, i´m thrilled. Though, in my opinion i think "On And On" is pure perfection, even if it´s a bit "euro".
What everyone wants now is of course that the follow-up single also will be a succes like "Release Me", and that Agnes won´t be one of those "One Hit Wonders". So i´m happy that they aren´t taking this so easy, and that they really consider every possibility. They live and work in the UK so i suppose they knows what works, and what donsen´t.
The UK is a super-mega-extra-big musicmarket, and Agnes´ beginning there has been fantastic, Agnes could become one of the biggest stars over there if she gets another smash hit. And as Agnes herself has sad; If you make it in the UK you make it everywhere (well something like that).
So i suppose there´s 3 options they are considering; "On And On", another song on DLP (Love Me Senseless, Love Love Love, Big Blue wall?) or a brand new song. What i can understand "On And On" is not going to be the next single, and another DLP song wouldn´t be my guess, so i think it´s a big chance that we will get a new song from Agnes, if the "rumours" are true.. Hopefully they will release the next single in september/october as they have said, to wait any longer would just be stupid.
For now we´ll just have to wait and see!
Quotes from Steve (working at AATW):
"Second single hasn't been chosen yet, it may be this (On And On) or one of a few new tracks."
"No they haven't. (Radio and TV) They've been told there will be a second single late September/early October. You, or whoever you got the story from may have presumed it's On and On, but it's not."
"There were some initial discussions between the label and pluggers about the possibility of doing a UK edit, but that never panned out. It became fairly clear early in the process that On & On, despite it being a great track, wouldn't work in the UK, it's too Euro."
"- your stories dated 15th of July, the process of working on other tracks had been under way for a few weeks by then"
"most of what is going on is at this stage rather dull, laborious and not news worthy"
Another Quote: "The next single is superb. You will be thrilled with it when you hear it."
Another Quote: "Anders and Agnes have been working on new tracks for a while"
Confusing or what?! What do you guys think? Let me know!

UK: Sales figures
This past week "Release Me" sold 15.166 copies in the UK, wich makes the total sales 290.857 copies! It should climb over 300.000 copies this week. And then it´s "only" 100.000 copies left until a gold certificate. "Release Me" is the #20 most sold single in the UK so far this year, wow!

UK: On And On is Off..
I´ve announced earlier that "On And On" would be the next single for Agnes in the UK, released at 28th September. Now that´s not happening anymore.. According to AATW they considered doing a UK Edit for "On And On" but the conclusion was that it was to "euro" to work in the UK.
A new single will still be released in late September/early October.
I have to admit that i´m shocked! Wich song on "Dance Love Pop" could possibly be a better choice? Even though it contains several potential hits, but none of them can come up to "On And On"´s greatness.
Now we´ll just have to wait and see what happens..

Busy Goddess..
The last week Agnes has done very much. She´s been to Wales, Ireland where she performed live at "Wakestock". After that she went to Denmark and performed at Radio ABC Beachparty. Later she performed at the opening ceremony for Gothia Cup in Sweden, and the day after that she recorded the new musicvideo for "On And On". A couple of days ago she went to Germany and did interviews at Bravo Mag, Energy Radio, Radio 7, Bayern 3 and free mag Piranha, amongst others. On Monday she´ll be performing at Dalhalla, Sweden and this coming weekend she has gigs every day. Saturday she´ll be performing at Birmingham´s Nightingale Club, and on Sunday she´ll be at "Party In The Park", Leeds. I wonder, how do she manage? Then again, she is a "Golden Goddess", so i suppose she can do anything!
"Her UK debut ‘Release Me’ entered the UK charts at Number 3 last month, and has been the summer anthem on dance floors across Europe. With a second single and album to follow shortly, AGNES will be making a one off EXCLUSIVE APPEARANCE on Saturday 25th July at Birmingham’s Nightingale Club. This will be the only chance to catch her on the UK club circuit – so don’t miss what will be an amazing performance."

Sweden: Gothia Cup
"Tonight is the night. At eight o´ clock 52 000 football loving spectators from all over the world will gather at the Nya Ullevi arena to experience the Gothia Cup Opening Ceremony. There will be competitions, a world record, laughter, première march for two new Gothia Cup nations and finally but maybe the most important, the language that we all speak, dance and music.
It´s the last rehearsal before tonight and full throttle at the arena. One of the girls on the stage is 21 years old, and has played striker in Wargöns IK, Sweden, her name is Agnes Carlsson. And one more small thing, 2005 she won the Swedish Tv show Idol and since then she has toured Europe as a successful pop and soul singer. But she has never performed at Gothia Cup before.– When I first arrived, I was chocked. I thought that I should sing by a football field but when I got here I understood I was going to sing at Ullevi, and how big this occasion is. I feel really honoured, says a happy Agnes Carlsson.

Agnes started to play football when she was 14 years old and played for two years. Even if her football career wasn’t too long she did score some goals.– I remember once when I played a game. The whole family came to see me play and I was really jittery. That game I scored three goals and I was so happy! says Agnes.
On and around the stage there are singers and dancers everywhere. It is all about timing each other and the music right, something that Agnes sees as a similarity with the football.– You get a lot of energy from your team mates when you do things together. Teamwork is the main thing, says Agnes and points at the same rules for both the stage and the field.– When you score or when you succeed on a concert, you just feel a big Yes! It is important to find something that you are good at and that you can enjoy.
Agnes arrived directly to the rehearsal from a tour in Wales and Denmark. She has only rehearsed two times with the Opening Ceremony ensemble but she does not feel any nervousness. Tonight she will be surrounded by 400 glittering singers and dancers and as before any big game it is all about preparations.– When I played I always had to play with number 2 on my shirt but now I think that the best way to prepare is to take a deep breath and to make sure you have fun.
At tonight’s magnificent show we will be a part of the fun with the Agnes and all of the singers and dancers. The Opening Ceremony is very much about joy and playfulness, but it also tries to answer one important question that probably has the same amount of answers as there are participants. What is Gothia Cup?– I have played football myself, never in Gothia Cup, but I have been visiting games and the disco. For me Gothia Cup will always stand for fun, Agnes finishes."

Australia: Confirmed
There has been some rumors about a record deal in Australia for Agnes, and finally it´s been confirmed! Neon Records is the lucky recordcompany that gets to release Agnes´music.
It is said that "Release Me" will be released 10th of June, but it´s not confirmed yet though. It´s already being played on australian radio.
"Dance Love Pop" will be released later this year.
Neon Records writes the following on their youtubechannel:
"Neon's latest crush At 21 years old Agnes Carlsson, better known simply as Agnes, sure has a lot to sing about.Already one of the top selling female artists in her homeland of Sweden, Agnes rose to fame after becoming the countrys first female Idol winner and recently celebrated a trio of platinum album sales. But its the release of this, her first international single, thats propelling her to super-stardom. Release Me, co written by Agnes herself, sets itself apart from recent offerings from other Scando-pop divas due to Agnes soaring voice and the tracks lavish production including lashings of strings, club-heavy beats and that all-conquering, highly infectious chorus that will have you hooked from first listen. With an impressive remix package including Moto Blanco, Cahill & TV ROCK plus an Australian exclusive version of her album, Dance Love Pop, due later in the year, Agnes is set to be one of 2009s brightest new stars."
Thanks to agnes.owns.it for finding this out!
