What A Year!

What a year! 2009 has really been a fantastic year for Agnes and her fans. From being one of Sweden´s most popular singers, she´s now become one of the worlds most popular artists! In the beginning of the year Agnes debutated in the Swedish “Melodifestivalen”, where she sang “Love Love Love” directly to the finale. And during her participation in Melodifestivalen, things were happening outside Sweden. We heard that she was planning to release her album in 10-12 european countries. “Release Me” started to chart in Belgium & Denmark, whilst “On And On” were climbing the charts in Poland & Holland. 

After Melodifestivalen in Sweden Agnes released a new version of her album, “Dance Love Pop – The Love Love Love Edition”, and did a club tour around Sweden. At the same time Agnes were creating quite the buzz around Europe over the net. The video for “Release Me” on Youtube, views increased a lot in just days. In the spring it were time to release “Release Me” in the UK, and even though the single had done tremendosly in clubs and getting some airplay, noone expected it to do as well as it did. #1 on UK Itunes #2 on UK Radio Airplay #3 on UK Single Chart. The success were a fact. The now 13-15 countries that Agnes were signed to, increased to 35! “Release Me” entered the charts all around Europe. Agnes started to tour all around Europe, visiting France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Poland, UK, Ireland etc. “Release Me” sold silver in the UK, gold in Italy & Denmark and platinum in Norway! The album were released in several european countries. Agnes got to perform at huge events like; Sopot Hit Festival, The Dome, Party In The Park, TMF Awards, The Jingle Bell Ball etc. 

All of Europe became in love with Agnes.

And the rest of the world didn´t wait long for “Aggie”. In Australia “Release Me” almost sold gold, and in Africa Agnes performed in front of 200.000 people singing along with her songs!

Rumoures also stated that Agnes were signed to a label in the US. These rumoures were true, 3 major labels wanted to sign Agnes. The choice became Interscope Records – the worlds biggest record label. She shooted new videos for the international release of “On And On” & the US release of “Release Me”. She also re-made “I Need You Now” for release in the UK. It gave Agnes her 2^nd UK top40 hit & her 7^th top10 hit in her native country Sweden.

Agnes has made loads and loads of promotion all over the world this year. Clubtour in the US, tv-performances, interviews with papers, tv & radio.

In Sweden Agnes continued her succes from Melodifestivalen, to lots of tv-performances, a nationwide tour, 2 awards, nominations, and a new album; “Dance Love Pop – International Edition”. Agnes is one of the most written about in Swedish news-papers this year. Even the Tv-news has reported about her success in the world.

Except the new mixes, we got 2 brand new songs from Agnes; “You Rain” & “Secret Love”, 2 great prooves that Anders Hansson & co, could create more smahs hits for Agnes.

All this is just a little bit of what Agnes has done this year. 2009 was Agnes´ year, and i  don´t think 2010 will be any different. Album release in Australia, UK, US... New singles in UK, Germany, Japan... Lots of promotion. Last but not least, these “mega plans” we have heard of. How exciting!
